Why Newborn Photography Is Important: 5 Reasons You Need to Capture These Moments
It’s hard to believe that just a few short weeks ago, your little one was nothing more than a bump in your belly. But now, here they are – a brand new person in the world, full of promise and wonder. It’s an amazing time, and it goes by so quickly. That’s why newborn photography is important – to capture these fleeting moments before they’re gone forever. Here are five reasons why you should book a session today!
#1 – They Grow So Fast
It’s true – babies grow and change so quickly, it’s hard to keep up. In just a few short weeks, they’ll be completely different than they are now. As a mom to a now toddler, I’m still taken aback by how fast the time speeds by, they always warn you, but you can never fully prepare for it – that’s why newborn photography is important. Newborn photography captures this amazing transformation, allowing you to look back and see how tiny they once were. The little details of their tiny toes and teensy nose change quickly, and they will never be this small again. Let me help you freeze time for a moment and save these precious memories forever.
Not only do they grow quickly, but babies are only little once. You wait nine long months for their arrival, and then they’re here – and gone in the blink of an eye. It’s been said that the days are long but the years are short, and that is especially true when it comes to parenting. One minute they’re in diapers and the next they’re off to school. Newborn photography captures this fleeting time of infancy, when they sleep soundly and curl up in your arms.
#2 – The family heirlooms
Newborn photography isn’t just about capturing your beautiful baby – it’s also about creating a family heirloom. Something you can pass down from generation to generation, something that will make your great-grandchildren say, “wow, look how tiny they were!” In a world where everything is digital and temporary, it’s nice to have something physical and enduring to hold onto.
Your newborn photos will be cherished not just by you, but also by your child and their children. It’s a way to connect with the past and future all at once. And what could be more special than that? This is why newborn photography is so important, not only to book the session, but to have a professional help you choose archival, heirloom pieces to display the images! I can do just that! I’ll help you choose the best images and more importantly how to display them so you can pass them down for generations to come.
These images will be cherished by you and your family for generations to come. They’ll be there to remind you of this amazing time in your lives. This is why newborn photography is important!
#3 – It’s a whole experience
When you book a session with me, you’re booking more than just time in front of the camera. I strive to provide a complete experience for my clients, from the moment you book until you receive your final images. I’ll be there to guide you through each step of the process, from preparations before the session to what to expect on the day of. While I photograph the tiny love of your life, you can relax and enjoy some well-deserved rest and refreshments. After your session, I’ll help you choose the perfect way to display your images, whether that’s in an album, as wall art, or both!
#4 – The memories
There are so many tiny details that make your baby unique, and they change so quickly! Newborn photography captures all of the intricate details of their perfection – from their fuzzy hair to their long eyelashes. These are the things you’ll want to remember forever, and I’ll make sure nothing is left out. The best part about capturing these moments for a new mom is the behind the scenes moments. When everyone else views the portraits in your album or on your wall, they’ll see a perfectly composed, sweet view of your newborn – you’ll see that too, but you’ll also be taken back to the moments in between when you’re snuggling your wonderful newborn, you’ll remember the smell of her hair and the feel of his skin. It is so much more than just the images for the parents, it’s also the memories of all the in between. This and more is why newborn photography is important.
Photographers have a special superpower – we can freeze a moment for you in a way that’s beautiful to everyone, but even more special to you. You’ll think of all the things about those moments surrounding the photos. For example, one of my favorite photos of my daughter is so much more than just about the photo, during our session, she was ready for a feeding and to our surprise, she latched on to nurse – we had been working so hard to nurse after her NICU stay, and during her session was one of the first times it truly seemed to click for us both. It was a beautiful, emotional moment for me – and the photo taken after that, of her just so perfectly posed and sleepy always takes me back to that moment before it (the reason she was sleepy and cuddly), and how absolutely special the whole journey leading up to it was. That is why newborn photography is important. It’s just so much more than the photos.
#5 – Because you’ll never regret it
I often hear from clients that they wish they had booked a session sooner, or that they’re so glad they finally took the plunge. Newborns grow and change so quickly – before you know it, those first few weeks will be nothing but a distant memory. One thing you’ll hear me say often is that the only photos you’ll ever regret, are the ones you didn’t take. And that is why newborn photography is important. You’ll only regret not having the photos taken, never the ones you do take!
